Chattering & More
This collection features wheel-thrown pieces with chattering patterns and interesting glaze finishes
Chattering is the act of inducing vibrations in the tool whilst trimming the piece to the final form, like teeth in the frigid cold. The tool, bouncing on the spinning form, produces a texture based on frequency, vibration and force. We often pair pieces featuring chattering with a glaze that allows the texture to show through, or one that accentuates high and low points in the pattern. For smoother surfaces, we often layer multiple glazes to produce interactions and interference where glazes meet.
You will find a mix of objects glazed with glossy, matte or textured glazes in this collection. Some feature carved facets, chattered surfaces or smooth faces.
